Guangshui 100% New Energy New Power System Technology Demonstration Project

2023-03-30

The Guangshui 100% New Energy New Power System Technology Demonstration Project is one of the "Top Ten Demonstration Projects" of the State Grid Corporation of China, built around the construction of a new power system and serving the "dual carbon" goal. The power transmission program was launched on November 19, 2022. The total installed capacity of new energy is 244MW, including three wind farms in Yingzizhai, Niujishan, and Lianhua Village, as well as a Baolin integrated wind and solar power station. The wind power installed capacity is 194MW, the photovoltaic installed capacity is 50MW, and the energy storage capacity is 19MW. The power supply area is 418 square kilometers, covering major commercial, industrial, and residential users in Guangshui City, with a population of over 200000 and a maximum load of 61MW. The demonstration project has built a total of nine energy storage power stations on the grid side, power source side, and load side, thereby achieving stable support and dynamic balance of the power grid, and effectively improving the wind and solar resource consumption capacity by 15% to 20%.

There is no precedent for a real power system with 100% wind and solar power as the power source at the county level. After the completion of the project, it will become the world's first demonstration project that can operate independently for a long time and achieve 100% new energy independent power supply.
